Welcome to The Arts Society Oxford – TASO.

Our aim is to promote knowledge, appreciation and enjoyment across a broad spectrum of the arts through a programme of ten lectures a year, held in Magdalen Grove Auditorium, and a varied range of study days and visits. We also support art education through charitable activities, and undertake heritage conservation projects and church recording, all supported by members who give their time as valued volunteers.
Launched in October 2009, we now have in excess of 500 members. You may have come across us previously as Oxford Decorative and Fine Arts Society before we changed our name on 13 September 2017, in line with the central organisation, The Arts Society.
We gained charitable status in November 2017 and members’ subscriptions help to support a broad range of charitable projects in Oxford and its immediate surroundings.
We aim to be a friendly society, offering our members an opportunity to enjoy our programme amongst other like-minded people in a welcoming environment.
Through over 300 Arts Societies across the UK and beyond, The Arts Society brings arts education and culture to a network of over 64,000 members. At TASO we are also part of the Wyvern Area of The Arts Society, through which we have contact with other local societies and access to their study days.
