Tuesday 26th November 2013  – Visit to National Portrait Gallery  – Elizabeth 1 and her People

Visit to the Elizabeth 1 and her People exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery with a lecture before entry into the Exhibition.  Own transport to London.  Booking Date: Wednesday 16th October  2013

Tuesday 10th December  2013 – Turner watercolours and drawings in the Ashmolean and a visit to the conservation department

A chance to see some of the Ashmolean’s collection of Turner sketchbooks in the company of Jon Whiteley, senior assistant keeper in the Northern European Department.  We will also visit the conservation department.  Booking Date: Wednesday 13th November 2013

 

Friday 24th January  /Thursday 6th February 2014 – Heraldic Walking Tour of Oxford

A walking tour with Alistair Lack to look at some of the many examples of heraldry within the City.  This is linked to the excellent lecture we enjoyed with Chloe Cockerill on the 10th April 2013.  The walking tour will take approximately 90 minutes, include interior and exterior locations and conclude with a cream tea.  Booking Date: Wednesday 18th December 2013

Wednesday 26th March 2014 –  Spitalfields and Dennis Severs House

A guided walking tour through Spitalfields, a fascinating area of London, starting at Christ Church, an early 18th Century church designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor  The afternoon will included a visit to the atmospheric Dennis Severs House which recreates the life of a Huguenot silk weaver’s family.  Travel by coach.  Booking date: Wednesday 12th February 2014

Tuesday 13th May 2014 –  Cirencester and Woodchester Mansion

Woodchester Mansion is an extraordinary architectural exhibit, a 19th century Gothic Masterpiece mysteriously abandoned, unfinished, in 1873.  It allows the visitor to explore the secrets of the medieval skills the builders and masons were employing.  Travel by coach.  Booking date:  Wednesday 12th March 2014

 

 

Sunday 15th June 2014  ( 4 day tour) – The History and Heritage of Yorkshire

Staying in the historic town of Harrogate, we will visit the city of York, Castle Howard, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden as well as exploring the town of Harrogate.  The trip will also include a visit to Hardwick Hall and The Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield. Travel by coach.  Booking – Tailored Travel – details will be available in the Autumn

Wednesday 17th September 2014 –  Boughton House and Estate, Northamptonshire

A private visit to Boughton which has been described as “at once palace, manor house, and village”.  The house, which contains a fine art collection, is set in an early 18th century designed landscape and is surrounded by the estate villages.  We will have a guided tour of the house, in our coach, of the estate villages.  Travel by coach.  Booking date:  Wednesday 11th June 2014
