At TASO we have a wide range of guided trips planned in 2025-2026, including local walks in Oxford, visits further afield, and a residential tour. We will add to the calendar below as visits are scheduled and details confirmed.

If you would like more information, do email us at tasovisits@gmail.com.

We are also always happy to receive your ideas and suggestions for future walks, visits and trips.

Please be aware that Visits Team events work differently to lectures. They are almost always ticketed, there are limited places and there is usually high demand. For these reasons, each event is initially opened only to members, then offered to those on the event’s waiting list if there are still places, and only if places remain after that are they offered to non-members.  When tickets for a visit go on sale, you can book yours by pressing on “click here” in that visit’s entry in the calendar or detailed information below.

On Wednesday October 8th we are offering a two-hour walking tour of the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter, led by Martin Haslett, a retired town planner and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, followed by lunch and a trip on the Birmingham canals.

Martin will meet us at The Bull, New St Station, Birmingham at 11.15 and we will take a tram to the starting point of the tour.

After a late lunch (though not included in the price, a booking will be made at a good cafe), we will have a one-hour trip on the Birmingham canals with Scott Brindley of Brindley Cruises, leaving at 3.30pm.

People should be able to walk comfortably for two hours.
Cost: £30 per person
Capacity: 15 – members only.

Members should make their own travel arrangements from Oxford, preferably on the Cross Country train. Note that the train from Oxford station at 09.39 arrives Birmingham New Street at 10.51; return trains leave at 17.03/17.34 arriving back in Oxford 18.15/18.37. Most Cross Country trains are very busy, so we suggest you book your train tickets well in advance.
